Play Therapy
Children generally express themselves through play. Play therapy focuses on the child's most natural form of expression. We provide play rooms for our staff to utilize in working with children who present with a variety of mental health concerns.
Through play, a therapist will help a child to address and resolve problems in his or her life. Children learn how to:
- communicate with others
- express emotions
- change behavior
- problem-solve
- and cope with various life situations.
Often, a portion of the play session focuses on instruction or learning a new technique/behavior; the remainder of the session is spent in play, allowing the child to practice new skills as well as express him or herself through the safety of play.
