Parent Training
Parent training is provided to assist parents in managing negative behaviors observed in their children. These sessions often focus on issues such as:
- Discipline (i.e., Time-outs)
- Establishing house rules
- Assisting with anger management
- Encouraging positive play
- Behavior modification plans
- Assisting with seperation anxiety
Sessions can be provided to the parent(s) individually or with the child present. Often, some initial individual parent sessions are beneficial for providing edcuation regarding what has/has not worked in the past, as well as some new techniques to consider. Children may then accompany their parent(s) to sessions in order to practice new techniques in a safe, controlled environment with the support and encouragement of the therapist.
